Together, Dan and Tony are Team Second Chance and they are no strangers to extreme challenges or raising significant funds for charity.
In 2013, they took part in a team rowing race pitting two crews against each other to row 500 miles from London to Paris, raising £122,000 for The Ickle Pickle Children’s Charity and Help 4 Heroes.
Individually, they have competitive natures with a drive to push boundaries. Together, their combined skills and unyielding determination are an effective force, not only for charitable fundraising, but to win the challenge.
The team supporting Dan and Tony is a network of specialist advisers, corporate sponsors, donors, rowing trainers and their own families – without whom Team Second Chance’s participation would not be possible.
Dan is the Managing Director of a Public Affairs company founded by his father. As well as rowing, Dan also has a passion for martial arts, fighting on the mats and in the ring in Kung Fu, Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Thaiboxing. Dan is a father to two children.
Tony served 23 years in the Territorial Army. Whilst conducting commercial operations in Lebanon in 2006, a command-detonated booby trap functioned causing Tony life-threatening injuries, including the loss of his right leg below the knee. Tony was determined to recover and within six months had returned to work. Tony continues to work in mine clearance, most recently in Iraq. Tony is a father to three children.
